ISRAEL OUT OF LEBANON & GAZA! July 26th, 2006 On Saturday July 22nd, two Canadian Soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in an attack against the occupying troops near their Kandahar base. These two deaths bring the rapidly rising toll up to 20 Canadians killed in Afghanistan. Three days later, on July 25th, Mike Frastacky, a Canadian working in Afghanistan, was killed. The death toll for Canada in this mission has now reached 21. Afghanistan is undeniably a war zone... STOP ISRAEL'S SIEGE ON GAZA NOW! July 7th, 2006 In the very early hours of June 28, 2006, Israel launched a large-scale military operation in the Gaza Strip, with the mobilization of nearly 5,000 troops, hundreds of tanks and other military equipment... June 9th, 2006 On Friday June 2nd seventeen mostly young, all Muslim men were arrested in South-Western Ontario under unspecified allegations of being involved in a “terrorist plot.” Alongside the Canadian military’s spring transition from a housekeeping occupation presence in Kabul to a savage combat mission in Southern Afghanistan, the arrest of the Toronto 17 has signaled that the war at home – a couple steps behind the war abroad – has entered its own “combat mission” against the democratic and human rights of oppressed people in Canada. In these times, poor, working and oppressed people across the globe face daily attacks from imperialist countries through war and occupation. At the same time, the governments which are leading the plunder and destruction in Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti and elsewhere are also attacking those living within their own countries. In Canada money is being stripped from social programs, from funding to education, healthcare and jobs in order to pump 26.8 billion annually into the military and the expansion of the Canadian war drive. Canada has just upped their funding to war and increased their military presence in Afghanistan with the addition of 2000 more troops by February 2006... MAWO SUPPORTS TELUS WORKERS!
